Tonight we went out for my mom's birthday dinner at a lovely little restaurant in Rochester called 300 First (formerly Broadstreet Cafe). I had the salmon that was served with an asian slaw of mango, cabbage, red peppers, micro-greens and fingerling potatoes. It was pretty amazing, as was the presentation:




I had been to 300 First with F before and we had awesome martinis and fun food then as well. Damn I miss him, but I think I will get to see him for my birthday, which makes me excessively happy :)

Also, last week I made a great moist buttermilk cake with a mascarpone cream filling and topped it with berries with a port sauce. Also amazing!

certainly! I just modified this recipe:

and used port instead of sherry and about half the sugar called for in the sherry mixture
